Meet our herd: the heart of Kindred Spirits Equine
Step into the serene world of Kindred Spirits Equine and discover the incredible horses who are at the very core of our mission. Each member of our herd brings unique wisdom, offering a safe haven for profound self-discovery and personal growth.
At Kindred Spirits Equine, our horses are more than just animals; they are intelligent, kind, and grounded beings. They live in the present moment, offering a truly safe and non-judgmental space. Their steadfast presence helps foster self-awareness and personal growth, guiding participants on a journey of self.
Our magnificent horses play a vital role as the dedicated teachers in our Equine Assisted Learning program. Through their natural intuition and calm demeanor, they provide unique opportunities for individuals to connect, learn, and grow. They are instrumental in helping participants build confidence, develop communication skills, and understand their own emotional landscape.
When you spend time with our herd, you'll experience a profound sense of calm and a deep connection to their steadfast and reliable nature. These qualities are what make them exceptional partners in promoting self-awareness and personal growth.
Shasta
Shasta, our 21 year old Icelandic horse whose greatest gift is her profound ability to mirror the human heart. Shasta is what horsemen call "highly tuned." She doesn’t just feel the tug of a lead rope; she feels the tension in your shoulders before you even approach her with a cluttered mind or a hurried spirit. She’ll stand rooted to the spot, a gentle but firm anchor requiring you to breathe and be present. As a teacher, she is patient, kind and honest.
Fernando
Fernando, our 20 year old Belgian Quarter horse cross. He is a master of presence. When you’re with him, you can’t help but slow down. He teaches by waiting. If you’re rushed, he stays rooted until you find your center. He’s the ultimate mirror: calm and steady, showing you that the world is only as loud as you allow it to be.
He’s seen it all - the nervous and unsure, and the heavy sighs of people carrying the weight of the world. He doesn't judge. He just exhales, a deep, rhythmic sound that tells you everything is going to be okay.
As a teacher, he’s a steady hand and a quiet mentor.
Kody
Kody, our 22 year old Morgan Quarter horse cross. Kody is more than a therapy horse; he is an intuitive soul with a unique ability to mirror your strengths and weaknesses and show you exactly what kind of person you're capable of being. With a sensitive and quiet-minded spirit, he possesses the rare gift of reflection. Kody is like an emotional sponge-absorbing the energy of those around him and reflecting it back with honesty and grace. Kody carries a person's storm until they find their calm. He doesn't just teach horsemanship, he teaches emotional regulation, boundaries and the power of authentic presence. As a teacher, he is patient, grounded and accepting.
Davey
Davey, our 20 year old Clydesdale Warmblood cross is the ultimate Equine-Assisted Learning partner, combining the calm, grounding presence of a draft horse with the sensitivity and athletic responsiveness of a warmblood. Davey's profound ability to mirror human emotion and demand presence is what makes him so respected in our program. He is the perfect "gentle warriors" for building confidence, self-awareness, and emotional regulation in participants. As a teacher, he is highly empathetic, steadfast and willing.
"The horses at Kindred Spirits Equine have a truly remarkable way of helping you feel grounded and understood. It's an experience unlike any other."
